The Gospel According to Mark swiftly carries us through the life of Jesus with the flair of a good storyteller and the detail of eyewitness testimony. We are meditating on this book during our Sunday worship this year.
Holy Week events
We remember and celebrate Jesus’ great work this week.

* Apr 6: Good Friday Tenebrae service at Valley Covenant
* Apr 8: Resurrection Sunday (Easter) worship and brunch at the Kane home.
Christmas Events
We are celebrating the birth of our risen King Jesus in two ways:
- Saturday, December 24th at 3:00 p.m. we are having a lessons and carols service at Sawyer House assisted living facility (1155 Darlene Lane in Eugene).
- Sunday, December 25th at 7:00 p.m. we are hosting a carol sing at our regular location, 2915 Eldridge Ave in Eugene.
Broken love, restored hope
This fall, we are studying the prophet Hosea. Called by God to remain faithful to his cheating wife, the prophet’s message to his generation (and ours) is one that highlights our wayward brokenness, God’s tough love, and patient restoration of our souls and future.
The Advent of Trees
Oregon is the top exporter of Christmas trees in the USA. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, we raised over $600 to plant trees in Haiti with Plant With Purpose.
Baptism of Michael James
This Sunday Michael James was baptized. He has been with our group from the beginning through our men’s Bible study and our Sunday evening gatherings. His humility, spiritual hunger, and insightful curiosity has been a blessing to many.
Soon, he will start a new job in Texas. Michael, we wish you all the best as you travel and settle down there with your family.
Thanks also to Emerald Baptist Church for letting us use their facility.
Baptism!
This has been an exciting week in our church, full of answered prayers and changes. One of our members, Michael, saw the Lord answer many prayers last week when he received a job offer. We are very excited for him although sad to see him go. During the past several weeks, he has been preparing for baptism, and now that he is moving, we need to do it this week.
This Sunday, November 7th, at 3:00 p.m. he will be baptized during our weekly worship service. We will be meeting at Emerald Baptist Church, 631 E 19th Ave, at the intersection of 19th and Patterson St. The easiest place to park is the northeast corner of South Eugene High School’s parking lot. There will be a reception and good-bye party for him after the service in the back of the sanctuary. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 541.246.3248.
Do you remember your baptism and/or confirmation? Part of our service will include reaffirming our own commitment to the Lord. Take a few moments before Sunday to reflect on how you are doing with the promises you made to him and thank God for his continued work in your life.
This will be a great celebration of his new life in Christ and of God’s continued faithfulness towards Michael.
